This Feelings and Emotions Sensory Collection is a valuable addition to any EYFS and KS1 classroom, supporting children in recognising, understanding, and expressing a range of emotions. The collection contains 18 wooden emotion tiles featuring a variety of facial expressions to help children explore different emotional states. Easy-hold mirrors help children to identify their own emotions and compare them with the images. 

 


Description

Introduce the Feelings and Emotions Sensory Collection into your classroom to support children’s emotional wellbeing. The collection has been designed to support children to understand and recognise the emotions they are feeling. 

The collection includes 18 wooden tiles that are easy for children to handle. Each tile displays a different facial expression to help children recognise and begin to understand a range of emotions, including feeling happy, afraid, excited, angry, and sad. The tiles feature images of both babies and young children, offering relatable and age-appropriate representations of emotions.

Use the high quality feelings and emotions images as a discussion point with children. Choose an emotion tile and ask children to consider why the child in the image might be feeling this way. Prompt further discussion by encouraging children to reflect on times they have experienced that emotion, what happened and how they overcame it. These conversations support children’s communication skills, helping them to express their own ideas, listen actively, and begin to empathise with others. 

The tiles are particularly beneficial for children who may find self-regulation challenging or who have difficulty in understanding and expressing their emotions. Encourage children to use the easy-hold mirrors to observe their own facial expressions, supporting the development of self-awareness and emotional literacy. 

The collection includes a natural woven striped basket to contain the feeling and emotions resources.
